"Poor blurry photos"on by ilader
Pros Instant first shot.
Cons Slow second shot.
Sensor poor at lower light.
Very frequent lens flare.
Easily smudged lens.
Unusable secondary (no fingers) control system.
Is the GPS on (can't tell)? If so, the camera is almost dead.
Summary Poor camera. Photos are often blurry, either from glare, easily-smudged lens, or temporary interior fog. The sun or lighting can't be anywhere in front of the camera, or overhead, or you will get glare streaks. The sensor seems unusually noisy in other than sunlight; decreasing the resolution seems to help. The GPS uses the battery as fast as any handheld GPS: a few hours. This means your camera will be dead a few hours after a full recharge. There is no clear indication that the GPS is off, and there is no "GPS OFF" function (through a complex menu, you tell the GPS not to track, and I think then it is off. I hope.)
Pros Pretty good auto exposure settings, not as good as a Canon B30. Size is good.
Cons Side panel fell off less than a week after we purchased the camera at the beginning of our vacation. Metering hard to learn.
Summary You never get a second chance to make a first impression, Nikon. We have other Nikon cameras that are great, but this one flunked big-time. We will now get to have fun with Nikon's warranty/repair program. We'll be comparing it to Canon's where we've had lots of experience, mostly bad/slow/unresponsive, with our B30.
