Pros It can take a photo outdoors.
Cons Camera can't take an indoor picture. All photo's come out yellow no matter the white balance setting.
Summary Don't waste your money on this camera.
Pros Light, small, durable...big monitor. Typical Nikon features and functions.
Cons "Doesn't take particularly good photos." Bad, bad autofocus.
Summary I like this camera from a 'bang for your buck" standpoint. I paid $100 for it, and I'm primarily comparing it to my 7-year old D70.
Compared to the D70, which was $1300 new - this camera is horrid. The autofocus is slower than heck, it takes blurry shots with high ISOs, and the dozen or so presets are a poor substitute for having control of your camera.
That said, I get "ok" shots with this camera that I wouldn't take my good camera out for in a million years. The L24 gets the shot, albeit blurry and in need of editing, whereas my prima donna D70 is at home in a drawer where it can't get dirty, stolen, or sand in it.
Basically this is the digital version of a $20 film reloadable. It'll take ok bar shots, pretty good landscapes, bad animals, and wretched flowers or insects. While looking through pics from it, I've caught myself wondering "Where is this thing supposed to be focused? *Nothing* is sharp."
If I had it to buy over again, I'd be tempted to upgrade, spend $200, and maybe get something a little better. I can get almost as good of pics as the L24 out of my phone camera - that's bad.Not a very good camera, but better than nothing.
Pros Received as a gift
Cons I wouldn't know.
Summary If you're going to trash something, at least give us a suitable alternative in the same price range.
I received this camera as a gift and have a limited amount of time to exchange it. It's bad enough the reviewer makes me feel bad about my gift, but he gives me NO alternatives. Agh!! What to do....what to do?! Kinda mean to trash someone's gift - I have enough camera problems already. :(
Too bad the reviewer trashes the product, but provides no reasonable alternative in the same price range. Camera choices are confusing enough without adding to the pressure of not having a clue what is a good substitute. I have the worst luck with cameras. Some constructive criticism with suitable alternatives would be the nice thing to do. Thanks for nothing! :(
