"I would recommend this camera to any beginner." on by cxstott
Pros: Very good for beginners
Cons: subpar Panorama shots
Summary: I just recently received the camera. It is the first digital camera that I have. I have not been able to put it down since. For beginners, it is a really nice camera. It is inexpensive and very light and small. The pictures are of high quality. The flash is so bright that I was able to take quality pictures at night, with no lights of several people playing midnight football. The pictures came out very clear and bright. Its an awesome camera for the price.

"Nice no-frills camera with a few perks." on by asianrage
Pros: Slender body, sharp screen, nice price, and auto white adjustments a nice touch
Cons: No Audio Recording, blue tinted flash, auto white adjustments can be extreme
Summary: I bought this camera on a thursday and I loved the pictures that it generated, though sometimes the pictures had a strong blue hue to them, but what really killed the deal for me was that the video capability didn't include any audio recording, which was a total bummer. I wanted it to record my performances, and that included audio. I exchanged it for the L3 the next monday, which did include audio recording. If I knew that the L4 couldn't record audio, I would've gone to the L3. Both are well worth the money, but if you're going to use your camera for purely photos, the L4 may be a better choice.

"Good camera fast and intuitive" on by sculldog
Pros: Easy to use, nice photos, good value, two AA batteries good battery life
Cons: Lightweight, slippery... memory card slot hard to pop cards in and out
Summary: Daughter dropped Canon A540 (2nd time in 2 weeks)while on vacation. Ran to local Wallyworld and bought this without having online access. Great bang for buck. Make sure to purchase 512MB min. SD card. AVI aspect weak. Nice software and lots of landscape and menu options. Pretty intuitive.

"Looks Great, small ! poor speed, undependable" on by Aldenbr2
Pros: small, great memory,big screen
Cons: after only three days flash would not come on or off
Summary: Great for two days of use, then flash would not allow me to select, then after two hours of frustration got flash to come on then later in day unable to turn off. Slow picture speed, and blurry pics from even a tri pod..

"Spend an extra $50 a get a better unit" on by bigchud
Pros: Compact and easy to use
Cons: Horrible flash and overly intense blues
Summary: We bought the camera as a simple "point and shoot" with some nice features - and it is that.
As a comparisonwe bought a simple Canon 3Mega-pix a few months earlier and the extra $50 we spent on it was worth 10 times that compared to the poor quality that we are getting from the Nikon.
The comparison between the two is night and day. The quality of the Coolpix pictures are horrible to say the least. In bright sunshine, the "blues" become overly intense. Nothing worse than looking at our recent pictures that look like we are taking pictures through an aquarium.
The flash in dim light is especially bad. We can not get pictures to focus. We have used a tri-pod, placed the camera on a flat surface and used a timer - yet the pictures as a whole come out blurry.
Bottom line - nice features, lousy pictures -spend a few extra dollars and go to the next level
