"Great camera for the price" on by stabgod

Pros: Outstanding pictures, great battery life, nice LCD screen

Cons: Slow - long time between pics and for flash pics

Summary: Even though cameras may have similar specifications, they are not all created equal. I was looking for a second camera for quick, good quality shots, so I spent about two hours at a BestBuy, testing every digital camera under $200. This camera was, by far, the best camera for the price range.

My main criteria was the quality of pictures. This camera took the best pictures under almost every condition. I tested various cameras in the 5-6 megapixel class, with similar specs, but the Nikon simply took the best pictures.

I was not looking for a zillion features, or the smallest/lightest camera, but I did expect a reasonable amount of features and a compact size. This camera didn't have as many options as some of the other cameras, but it was very easy to use and had everything I needed. It wasn't the smallest or lightest, but it did fit nicely in my hand, and was not a burden in my pocket.

Once I bought it and started using it, I was very pleasantly surprised at the long batery life from the included AA bateries. I was even more pleased by the pictures taken under all sorts of lighting conditions.

In summary, if you want the best quality pictures for under $200, this is the camera for you. Picture quality is this camera's claim to fame. If you rather have a bunch of features, then look elsewhere. If you want a tiny, feather-light camera then this is not the one for you. The Nikon will reward you with great snap shots, and the best batery life I've ever seen on a camera.

"Outstanding Camera Outstanding Photos" on by tommyg1814

Pros: Battery Life,Clear true to life Pics,Brilliant LCD screen

    Cons: None I Can Find

Summary: This Camera is so easy to use and the Picture Project software is as easy and great to use. The LCD is wonderfull and the quality of the pics is supurb I had a Canon A540 and returned it for this and am so glad I did. The battery life is the best I have ever seen 95 percent of dig Cams really eat batteries NOT THIS ONE it just keeps on going. I absolutly recomend this Camera for anyone who wants ease of use and great Pics.

"compact easy to use long battery life" on by js43512

Pros: size, picture quality , small without being too small

    Cons: slow flash recycle

Summary: I have more complex cams that have more settings, but I wanted a simple model to stuff in a pocket..this one fits that roll very well. Good light shots very nice, low light without flash pretty good also. Most of the time with my other cameras they are on auto anyhow so why worry if this one does not have all the manual options? Use it and be happy!

"Good camera for snapshooter." on by petaros16

Pros: long battery life, powerful flash

Cons: extremely slow focusing, way too much noise

Summary: Got this camera as a replacement for my old Nikon Coolpix L3 and must say that I'm very dissapointed with it. One of the new features of this camera is ISO 800. Definitely wish it didn't have it as every time I use sports mode or take shots in low light situation, the camera immediately turns it to ISO 800, putting so much noise in the picture as to make it almost unnusable. The focusing takes way too long, especially in low light conditions.

Despite the cons, I was impressed with the flash of this camera. It does a good job of lighting up shadows, and is really quite powerful. I was also impressed with the long battery life, although I think this may have something to do with the long flash recycling time.

All in all I think this is a good camera for amateurs who just want to snapshot different things, and don't need any manual controls.

"Great Camera where Simplicity is Key!" on by got2bz1

Pros: Ease of Use. ISO 800

    Cons: Slow Flash Reset

Summary: I have a couple of canon digital cameras with many features I do not and never will use. Honestly, there are many options I do not even understand! If you are not a professional photographer, or desire a small digital camera which takes great pictures and is easy to use, this camera fits the bill. It has an ISO of 800 just like most of the higher end slim digital cameras so the camera takes excellent photos indoors/low light without a flash. Proper settings for picture taking is basically automated with this camera. It is simple to use and takes quality pictures. You won't have to spend much time reading the manual before you master the use of this camera. This camera is also one of a few that uses AA batteries. No need to charge an internal battery before use. Because of it's size, simplicity and features including the use of AA batteries, this is a camera I will tend to use most often. As far as my con, there is a 4-5 second lag time for the flash to reset. No big deal. This camera has a targeted audience and I think CNET missed this point when they provided their rating.
