"Does every thing well, except the JPG algorithm."
on by Len_LundgrenPros Zoom is fantastic. Anti-shake enables almost full zoom hand held. In bright sunlight everything is great.
Cons JPG algorithm needs Nikon's very fine and raw settings, or make the normal setting very fine and raw the second.
Now the very fine algorithm makes extremely vivid jpg contours in cloddy/foggy shots. I down graded it from 5 to 3 on this alone.Summary The JPG algorithm has only 2 settings, Bad and Very bad, or Fine and Normal. I took a long distance photo on a cloudy/foggy day with the jpg set to fine. The photo came out as expected- foggy. There were some jpg contours, but not really noticeable. Of course the scene was not noticeable either. I used my image software clarifier - to clarify- and out popped the scene. unfortunately, the jpg contours also popped out, especially in the sky, rendering the photo useless.
NIKON, It is a small thing to add back the very fine and RAW settings. I know it will slow up the picture storage, but it is worth it. Change the P520 from a so-so(3) to a fine 5 camera. I rate it a 3, a very good fair weather friend.
