Summary: This Camera is terrific. Its' twist form factor allows for extreme ease of use, as well as the ability to take pictures without you looking like someone who is taking pictures, yielding great candid shots. Fairly small, it fits in pockets that "point and shoot" and "full zoom" cameras do not. Performance is as manufacturer lists (after all, it's a Nikon). The problem is that this site, and others, keeps comparing it to bigger, or less-zoom cameras. This camera is compact (but not sub-compact), sleek, powerful, easy to use, and truly high performance. The Nikon S10 is unique, and "in a catagory of it's own".

You are right on about "apples-to-oranges" comparisons. CNET's preferred alternative to this camera weighs well more than twice as much - not an appropriate comparison at all!
