Summary Nixon really dropped the ball with this camera line, I exopected MUCH better with Nixon.
I hace a Nikon D40X DSLR and was very impressed with the photo quality. Bought the cool pix for my wife to use, she wanted something small and easy to use. A relative owned an older Nixon point and shoot about this size ( don't know the model #) but it was a 4MP and small: It took REALLY nice pictures. Nikon took a big step backwards
in the point and shoot models .

Summary Bought this camera as I was very pleased with an older Nikon L3 camera I'd bought for my wife, then usurped by our daughter. I needed a replacement and the S230 seemed perfect. My wife used it on a cruise and, oh my, all of the pictures were terrible. Bad color, poor focus, washed out. I assumed there was something amiss with setup but no, it just plain sucks!

She has now reverted to using an older Fuji 3MP point and shoot as it has far better picture quality.

Btw the Nikon L3 gave up the ghost too. My daughter has now moved on to DSLR's, I use a SLR like super zoom (can't justify the bulk of the DSLR) but every now a then a super compact point n shoot is just the ticket. Unfortunately, this is not the ticket . . .

Pros it´s a nice gift to your enemies in general.

Cons The photos are simply horrible, very bad, nikon should make a recall . i would like to return it, but i don´t know how considering that i bought in argentina. I could never imagine that a nikon would be like this. I,m using my old sony.

Summary In the first day i saw that something was wrong with this camera. The quality of the pictures was really bad.

Pros Screen size!!!!!!!!!!! The screen is huge!
Touch screen, is a nice additional feature didn't sell the camera.
Navigation controls are easy to use.
Price, not the cheapest but good value.

Cons Plum color is awful, but can live with.
Pictures look grainy, but allow the camera to adjust them automatically and they look great. Load them on your computer and you'll be happy.
Price could be cheaper

Summary Camera holds it's value for someone looking for a large screen on the back of the camera. If the size of the screen on the back of the camera doesn't concern you then look for another camera with more value. My wife never develops pictures, she just keeps them on her memory card and show's people the camera. Saves money and time.

I would have gave this camera 5 stars if the price would have been $50 cheaper.
