"Autofocus and speed are a real let down" on by Scoobyphil
Pros: The design is nice, good screen, plenty of features.
Cons: As mentioned in the review for a point and shoot camera the results are very patchy, focus being achieved in any lighting can be 50%, the time delay in taking another photo is very slow.
Summary: I bought this for my daughter as a birthday present as her first camera, she got it out of the box, fired off a hundred shots before the day was done. When I loaded them on the PC I was disappointed that over 30 were out of focus, the range was wide, flash, indoors, outdoors. I thought she was using the camera incorrectly so I spent some time going over the settings, AF assist etc. I then spent time with her, getting her to pre focus by holding the button down half way but still they had a dismal focus rate.
I gave it a go and compared to a fuji finepix the results were not good. I expect more from Nikon. The cycling of the camera between shots is dismal, the autofocus is hopeless so even when you miss a shot it takes forever to re-try. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, sorry Nikon, you make great DSLR's but this one for me was a big let down.
