"Great little camera for snap shots and capable of more" on by jtate00

Pros: Easy to use and takes great photos. Plugged into my Mac and downloaded, nothing else needed. Bright display easily seen in direct sun. Wide angle works great to document renovation & construction. Third Coolpix camera I've had-used other 2 to death.

Cons: The zoom can be a little difficult to control but it's not really been a problem in 500+ photos so far.

Summary: This is my third Nikon Coolpix camera and is the best so far. I used the other two until they literally wore out from the wear and tear of being dragged around. Even so, both would still work if I needed them.
The rechargeable battery takes at least a full days worth of photos and charges fast at night. Photos download fast and easy to my Mac with no additional software needed. The physical buttons work better than the touch screen cameras I've used and this implementation is completely intuitive to use. It is easy to change the settings for custom resolution or other effects. The camera recovers fast for the next photo. Photos are sharp and easily reviewed. My 2G card holds 500+ 12 MP photos and many more at lower resolution.
I take photos of interior and exterior construction and renovation projects for documentation and to share with coworkers in emails and on line. The wide angle lens is working great for this kind of photo and the downloads are fast and super easy. I also take nature and animal photos of my gardens and dogs to share on line. I can get closer to my subject with this camera than with the previous ones.
This camera is exactly what I need for my work photos and for taking personal snap shots that I post on line. I am completely satisfied with my new Nikon Coolpix--again.

"Poor build quality" on by DWade56

Pros: Fairly simple to use, nice features for the price.

Cons: Poor quality, especially the lens housing. Mine broke after about the third use - received "lens error" message, lens would not open. This happened at my daughter's college graduation! I've owned several Nikons; never again.

Summary: Regardless of price, a camera must function as expected - the lens has to open and operate. This camera malfunctioned on about the third use (5 months after purchase), and I've read other users with the same problem. I also noted that the image is not sharp. I have used Nikon for about 20 years, but no more. Spend your money elsewhere.

"Large view screen is fragile" on by hdsquared

Pros: Sold to me as a great camera for a reasonable price.

Cons: The large view screen broke within 48 hours without being dropped, banged, or impacted. The screen is not covered in the warranty so I am left with a $105 bill to repair. I bought an olympus stylus tough instead which is a great camera.

Summary: This camera did not go through Nikon's line of integrity. It is cheaply built and too fragile for the average user. My few hours of use were not worth the price tag. Also, the 20 pictures I was able to salvage were not great. See the review about blurry picutures above.

"Great Photos For a Cheap Camera" on by mommahottness

Pros: This Camera is AWESOME! I keep it in my Purse at all times. Great for Candid photo opps. Fun Panoramic feature is Really easy to use and line up. Light weight fits in my pocket at the zoo. Kids can use it with my permission :)

Cons: Delay time between shots could be shorter, zoom could be better And I would expect that From a more expencive cam. I cannot complain about this Camera! I love it!

Summary: This Camera is AWESOME! I keep it in my Purse at all times. I love the features and the Quality of my Photos. My older son's got school pictures. And my 3 Year old Daughter was left out. We did a Mini photo shoot and gave pics out just as if they were the school photos. Costco lets you print a package, these were the Best Pictures, they fit right in with the Prof Quality ones. I Framed up the School pics and my Daughters and gave out as Gift to several fam Members. I love having this Camera.

"Takes blurry pictures. Confusing to use." on by consumer01

Pros: The camera is priced right.

Cons: Picture quality. Choosing right settings is a challenge.

Summary: Purchased this and then returned it. Went with the Canon SD1200IS. For the price the Canon is your better choice.
