  • "crappy indoor pics"
    on by xcsxengnr

Pros It takes really clear outdoor/natural light photos. It is super fast between shots when not using the flash. Has a VERY bright flash that lights up everything in low light/no light indoor rooms. Never tested it outside at night.

Cons It takes a long time to focus and is usually out of focus in poor lighting. In mediocre to poor lighting it takes a VERY long time in between shots.

Summary I was dissatisfied with this camera! Got it as a Christmas present from my husband to replace the Kodak Easyshare m340 I lost. Nikon is supposed to be a better camera, have higher mega-pixels, better zoom, everything better.. right? I miss my easyshare! The Easyshare took better overall pictures in indoor lighting and outdoor lighting. The Outdoor pictures were super sharp and looked great on the Nikon, but I want this camera to take shots of my 12 month old playing around the house. The weather is getting nicer and we will be spending more time outdoors, but all my indoor shots are not great. ALSO, advice for parents with small children.. My son was 9 months when we got this camera. There is a green light on the lens side of the camera that lights up before all pictures are taken. I believe it helps with the autofocus. However, my son recognizes this to mean that a bright light (aka flash, which is the brightest flash i have ever seen) is coming and he must squint or close his eyes. Therefor, 98% of all indoor pictures of my son are of his eyes closed. If the picture is a surprise I can usually get away with it and take a nice picture, but the green light is VERY bright and actually lights up his face, so it is hard to sneak that past him. The very bright flash is also a good thing though because it will take decent pictures in very low light, if you can get them to focus well.

Pros Liked the camera initially. My pictures looked great... the design seemed to be very nice.

Cons Camera froze and the green light on the front wouldn't turn off. Called tech support and have to send it in.

Summary 2 weeks after we purchased the phone it froze on my for no reason. I went to take a picture and the green light on the front turned on and wouldn't turn off. I couldn't turn the thing off, I couldn't make it go to the Menu... nothing. I called tech support at Nikon and the guy (after I had to tell him my email about 6 times before he got it right) told me to take the battery out... wait ... and put it back in... (like I couldn't have figured that much out on my own). It didn't work so he just said, "okay, well I sent you an email to the address you need to send your camera back to us with the proof of purchase and the original packaging." It was a worthless phone call and terrible customer service. (he barely spoke English) It's broken and I don't trust to replace it with the same one and just keep wasting my time.

Pros I took New Years photos indoors & they came out great.

Cons So far so good. No complaints!

Summary Quick start up & quick to the next pic. Video is crisp & even better if played back on big screen tv.
