"Excellent Build, Great Pictures"
Pros: One button settings access (especially ISO) in convenient location, High resolution & clear photos, fast
Cons: Battery door latch week; Not a beginner SLR: need to know what the settings mean or your pictures will show it
Summary: I needed a camera to compliment my Evolt 300 for use in more demanding circumstances. Since I was going to spend a little more I money I decided to get the best. Of course that means Nikon. The only way to tell the build quality of a camera is to hold it in your hands and examine it. The buttons have a solid feel, you can tell it has a metal frame and the the weight gives it a great balanced feel. The lenses also feel secure in their bayonet. I also like the Canon 30D but the Nikon just feels and looks a little more like a professional camera.
Picture quality from color balance/saturation to crispness is excellent and allows for an enormous amount of adjustment to suit personal taste. I am also glad that the retained the on camera flash so I omly have to bother with a hotshoe flash in extraordinary circumstances.
The included -70mm lense is clear and makes a good everyday lense preventing frequent lense changing. I will be soon looking at the -200mm VR lense for greater range.
Overall the best camera I haveever owned either film or digital.
