"Own and Love It"
Pros: This camera is fast. At 8 frames a second is sounds like a silenced machine gun. The AF is remarkably fast as well. The handling is to die for and the photo quality superb.
Cons: This first downside is cost, but I do feel it?s a great value for the money (but out of the range of most amateurs). The other problem is file size of RAW images. You?ll need a beefy computer.
Summary: Unlike many of the wingnuts who have posted negative reviews thus far, I actually own this camera. You?ll note that the negative posts all pre-date the actual release of the camera (February 25, 2005). What can I say about the D2x? Flawless. Perfect. Couldn?t be happier. As a Nikon shooter, this is the best camera money can buy and it feels that way when I press the shutter. Over the years, I?ve owned a few Nikon consumer SLRs (film). Then I moved to the D70 and digital photography got hooked on the hobby. I began shooting so much, I started to realize the limitations of the D70 (and there aren?t many). I decided to upgrade to the D2x and I?m certain it was the right decision! Just make sure you?ve got great glass to go with it.
