Pros it can see things you don't, top build, excellent battery life, lots of features, stunning non cross type focus ability, easy to use
Cons stupid layout of dial wheel in portrait mode, shallow grip when holding in portrait position. Not sure what the heck Nikon thinking. I prefer Canon pro body in this area, deeper grip. only 9fps
Summary Yes, don't even think to try it. Once you try it, you will buy it. Never though of buying another 12MP camera since I already have D700 which in some way very identical to D3s but after I borrow a camera from a friend next thing I ordered one for me and from that point on my D700 become history. You will be blew away with its high ISO capabilities. It can capture detail that something you have to adjust your eyes awhile to realize there is something there that you can't see before you view it on D3s. You can shoot comfortably at any high ISO ranging from 2000 to 6400 without worrying too much. You can shoot as high as 12000 too but I prefer 6400.
Pros The ability to shoot anytime, anywhere, under any conditions.
Cons It's gonna cost you alot.
Summary This camera is a marvel, I can literally shoot in the dark with it. Put some quality Nikon pro glass on it and the images are stunning. It is so customizable that you can virtually set it up the way that you want it. I initially wasn't very excited about the video capability but have learned to appreciate having it available. I can see myself still shooting this camera a decade from now, it is just that close to perfection. This one does it all and does it well due to it's brillant firmware. Metering is always dead on as well as flash exposure, all you need to do is compose if you wish and the camera will take care of the rest but taking the time to learn the camera and it's true abilities is well worth the extra effort. I love mine! Bravo Nikon!
Pros WHERE TO START ITS WAY COOL
Cons WELL IT KINDA SUCKS THAT ITS SOO EXPENSIVE BUT U GOTA PAY A LITTLE MORE FOR GOOD QUILITY AND PRETTY HEAVY
Summary BUY ME 1 PLEASE
Pros Hi ISO ability really works. And it is so easy to change ISO quickly using the buttons below the LCD viewscreen on back of camera
Cons The only negative would be the weight of the camera. However, its ruggedness can only come from a solid build which invariably means weighty materials such as steel, aluminium etc.
Summary The real beauty of this camera lies in its ability to shoot pics in extremely low light without flash AND without tripod support. It has opened up a whole new world for me. My previous camera was the D300 which was a great camera (and still is) but the financial step up to the D3s was, in my mind, worth it. I eagerly look forward to the summer and having a chance to use the camera around the campfire. With "no flash required" I feel that the pictures that this camera will produce will be amazing as the light from the flash will no longer be present to "wash out" the light provided by the campfire. I looked seriously at the D 700 but the high ISO is what sold me on spending the extra money and it was well worth it. And I am just beginning to work through the multitude of features of this camera. In conclusion, this camera more than exceeded my expectations for low light level photography.
