Summary: This is a great camera. Just do your research before purchase. Some retailers are selling the Kit with just the 18 - 55 mm DX lens and not the better 18 - 55 mm VR DX Lens that is reviewed here. I ran into this and ended up purchasing the 18 - 105 mm VR Lens instead

My husband wanted to get this camera for me. We were at Best Buy and they had it on sale, with an extra lens and a bag. I'd rather not mention the price, but lets just say it was over $850.00. I went home and researched it and found them on Ebay, brand new with tons of extras for $150.00 less and free shipping. You definitely need to shop around when making a big purchase like this.

Is this lens fully compatible with the D5000? This is what I want but do not see it being sold everywhere together. I know there are some issues if the "VR" and "DX" are not mentioned. Is the compatibility of lenses for the D5000 and D90 the same or do they some unique characteristics?

shoul dit just say vr and not vr dx cus i want to get ti from amazon and thats what it says
