onPros Great Zoom , Great Pics ,and I purchased @ a great price...If you want a camera that takes good pics for a fair price this is a good choice
Cons shutter lag but every digital I have owned has had this problem. If you want one that solves this problem buy a 35mm or a digital that cost over $1200.00

"GREAT Camera for eBay Sellers"
on by volleyballcats19Pros The 8x optical zoom; fairly easy to use; video mode is a neat feature; electronic viewfinder is also a neat feature; controls in proper places for ease of use.
Cons Resolution is rather low compared to other competing models; the autofocus can take a long time to focus so if the subject moves, the picture is not as good; the LCD screen is a little too small.
Summary First off, the 8x optical zoom is probably the best feature of this camera. You can zoom in on any subject even from a fairly great distance. It is also rather easy to use because it does not have too many complex features. Its controls and buttons are positioned in good places on the camera so you don't accidently press something or turn the camera off.
On the bad side, compared to other comparable models, the resolution is not as high. With only three megapixels, the pictures cannot be cropped and blown up or large, high-quality prints cannot be made. The autofocus also can take a while to adjust so a good photo opportunity can be lost. If you are planning on taking photos of pets or small children who often do not stay put, this may be a disadvantage. The 1.5" LCD screen is difficult to see for reviewing pictures or movies. For a camera its size, the LCD screen could be larger. This camera is also rather heavy mainly because it takes 4 AA batteries.
One major advantage of this camera is taking photos for eBay listings. It is easy to zoom in on the object you wish to list. Three megapixels is just enough for internet pictures, producing great quality photos online.
Overall, this camera is good for e-mailing, internet photos, and making small prints, but when it comes to making large prints or cropping, this may not be the best choice. In my opinion, the best feature of this camera is its awesome 8x optical zoom. -
"almost cost the same to repair as to buy the same new"
on by cjschaffPros Uses standard AA alkaline batteries
Cons poor autofocus and no manual focus. Also a lag time from when the shutter button is pressed and when the picture is actually taken.
Summary When this camera was purchased about 14 months ago, I paid over $400 at Sam's Club. 10 days ago, the camera was dropped and landed in the dogs water dish (plz, don't try that, not good for the camera). The camera still functions, after removing the batteries and allowing it to dry. With new batteries installed, the shutter button takes pictures as soon as touched, the date memory is forgotten after turning off the camera each time. And after 4 pictures, the camera freezes up, batteries have to be removed to reset the camera.
I send email to Olympus USA for a repair price quote... EIGHT (8) days later, I get a quote that is $20 LESS then to buy the same camera today NEW at Sam's Club. $225 + $6 shipping to repair the camera. The same thing is $240 at Sam's NEW.
When the camera was working properly, it was a so-so camera, major issues with the auto-focus. and hard to pre-focus on an item. Save your $$ and get something a bit better.
At least now I will let our daughter take this camera to school with her, can't get any worse.
