"Quality lenses can't save a doomed system" on
Pros: Outstanding Zuiko lenses, good battery life (especially with Li-Po battery pack), reasonable continuous shooting performance, 100% viewfinder view, great ergonomics (best of any DSLR I've used), weather-resistant body and lenses
Cons: The 4/3 system is doomed. Everyone else is trying to go full-frame, and Olympus is going backwards. The noise on this smaller sensor becomes much more visible at ISO800 or higher, which looks like ISO1250 on my D70. Also, it _does_ need more resolution

"Solid camera, great lenses, and amazing colour" on by bousozoku
Pros: No 35mm legacy, all digital, great lenses, great colour
Cons: Few lenses, low light capabilities
Summary: I've had my E-1 for a little over a year. I use it primarily for high school sports and it works fine indoors with a proper flash. I have no problem capturing the action, as it's quick and only suffers from similar lag to a good film camera.
Metering is good and the lenses are awesome. I use the 14-54mm and 50-200mm lenses for the majority of my work with the 50mm macro for extreme close up work.
Colour is always amazing and shadow detail is quite good. There is no light falloff at the corners as there are with legacy lenses attached to typical digital SLRs.
In 2005, it could really use an 8 or 12 MP sensor but the sharpness and colour really sets it apart from 6.x MP SLRs. -
"It’s a robust camera and high quality printing" on by menachem
Pros: Splash proof, dust remover, I love Olympus’s color rendition, its build, amazing lens system very good for low light conditions
Cons: Fore a4 prints iso 800 is just fine but 1600 is not the best
Summary: Overall I choused the e1 for its good lens system. even do others might have a better digital chips, still the E1 from iso 100 400 (which I manly use) has same high quality chip, plus Olympus lens system is full frame and high quality lens (at reasonable price) and have wide aperture, and half the wait, splash proof dust proof, you can take it every where with out worrying about your chip getting dirty, as appose to other brands you would have to pay allot for full frame, high quality lens, wide aperture, and will be twice as heavy and very few are water proof not even mentioning dustproof.
Beside for the fact that Olympus is putting allot of effort in adding more technology like antishake, and I am sure they will improve there chips.
Conclusion if you don’t own lenses from other brands I would recommend the E1 or E300 and if you got patience await the new Olympus SLR’s -
"Used by Olan Mills photo studios" on by PadiDiver01
Pros: Quick and Easy
Cons: Screen Size could be larger
Summary: I work for Olan Mills and this is the camera we use. It does an excellent job for all of our photo shoots. Very easy to use. If you want to see one in use go to your local K-Mart to the Olan Mills studio and ask if you can take a look at it.
