"good camera for the price"
Pros: inexpensive with decent quality pics
Cons: Red eye in every picture
Summary: I bought my IR 500 for $149 at Fry's about a month ago. The camera has the best view finder I've seen yet, however, the flash is too powerful that you see red eye in all of the photos. It comes with a docking station (which is the only way to recharge it!).
The camera has a lot of cool factor though. I have no intentions of returning mine.

I am a complete "dummie" where digital camera's are concerned but when purchasing it became apparent that this camera was more solid than others within the same price bracket (handy if you are accident prone like me)& the large LCD screen persuaded me further. I have just returned from Australia where I took 168 shots on the 256mb disc & still did not use it's full capacity & all are really clear. I have a little trouble knowing when the battery needs recharging or how much time I have left once the battery warning light comes on. I do find the 360 degree LCD fiddly to open in readiness to take a shot, however the ability to close the screen away from damage is a bonus. In bright sunlight it is virtually impossible to see what you are shooting, however when previewed the shots are all in focus. Yes I had red eye on one shot but "fiddled" around with the menu & put a delay on the flash & now it seems fine, however if you are getting somebody else to take a shot you need to remind them that it is the 2nd flash that the phot is taken with. As I am entirely new to this game I would say that the excellent results I have had are down to the camera. I am so pleased that I own this model & was not persuaded to buy a fully auto model....JUNEROSE

I like this camera but have a big question in using 1 gb xd card (olympus ), it works fine in taking picture but when need down load to computer, the over 100mb portion can not read. When you check the property of the card thru computer, you can find out it's 272 mb used but as you check the folder, it's only 99mb there.
Question is if it's only support up to 512mb? if so, there should no such problem by using 512mb? fact is the camera shows full 1gb capacity for taking picture. I lost all my X'mas party photo due to this unexpected issue.
