Pros Excellent photo and movie quality. Excellent audio quality.
Cons I would prefer that it was a smaller and there are too many options, which sometimes requires too much scrolling to get to the one I want.
Summary This seems to be an excellent product. I looked at quite a few different cameras in this price range and bought this one with the understanding that it could be returned if it was unsatisfactory. But I honestly cannot find any serious issues to complain about.
The review is wrong on a couple of points, BTW. The SP-600 uses 4 batteries, not 2 and you zoom in and out in movie mode, so long as you turn off the microphone.
Pros Good camera for those rely on automatic features of digital photography.
Cons SP-***UZ was supposedly a advance digital camera with a lots of manual capability. No more, I guess... SP-***UZ is now just a automated digital camera which is no longer distinguishable between cheap cameras from Canon and Knikon.
Pros This camera is amazing. I happen to own the sp-600 and i love the programmable auto mode. The auto mode does do very well in most cases and i have yet to explore the cameras artsy modes but I will post my revised review when such features are used.
Cons This is where Olympus has failed. No full manual mode. If you need to do specific night shots while zoomed in there are settings that need to be manually adjusted such as shutter speed.
Summary Bottom line is this is an excellent camera for the point and shoot category, and is only missing full manual mode. I would recommend this to the average user.
Pros Amazingly detailed pictures, Epic zoom proportion.
Cons It takes batteries. I absolutely hate the fact that it takes batteries, I don't know about anybody else, but mine eats batteries alive. Hubby says get the rechargeable batteries, but it doesn't matter, my camera will go through 4 batteries a week.
Summary Its a really good camera, don't get me wrong. I love it and wouldn't change it for a different one, It's perfect for what I use it for (pictures of my tort) but the batteries thing REALLY gets me down about it.
Pros Good quality photos. Easy to change options. The video quality is great. Sounds and video are good quality, you just have to stop the recording to zoom in or out and restart. I am impressed with the stabilization with full zoom and video.
Cons No option to change shutter speed. It would be nice to have a setting where the shutter speed would be faster, even if you loose an option someplace else.
Lag time from shot to shot can be frustrating unless your in the multishot mode.
Summary Over all I am very happy with this camera. I am a point and shooter who wanted a little more challenge. It took me awhile of frustration to realize that low lighting can cause more of a lag on the shutter speed. Lost several good photo ops the other night. I am playing with options to see if I can increase the shutter speed while keeping the picture quality. Taking photos outside in day light are turning out beautiful, but taking pictures of the active grandkids inside are a challenge. I am sure I just need to work with the settings more before they come over again.
