    Pros: Take anywhere portability

Cons: Some odd restrictions in some settings

Summary: I like the worry free portability. I don't have to worry about the camera getting wet if I'm out in the rain, or the ocean for that matter. Some of the odd things are the severely limited time of 10 second length of a high quality (640x480) 30 frame per second video clip... that's disappointing... but the 15 frame per second clip is as much as your battery/card can handle. The camera gets quite warm after a few minutes, but still keeps recording. There are many photo setting options, but for some reason, in the "program" mode, the file size is limited to 5 Mpixel or less. (Why did I buy a 10 Mpixel camera??) Also you may change the settings in one mode, and then switch to another mode, but the settings for each mode have to be set individually. Just because you changed them in one mode, the camera only changes the particular settings for that mode. Change to a different mode, and you have to change the settings again. You have to watch carefully that the settings are the ones you want.

Low light situations, even if it's not that dark out, the camera picks 1600 asa speed equivalent, and the pictures can be quite grainy looking. Quite a bit more than I would have expected. The flash also isn't as consistant as I would like. Over exposed more in several shots of similar sitations.

I'm not as impressed with the camera as I thought I might be, but I bought it for a compact travel camera so I don't have to lug extra bulky camera gear around, and that's what it is.

OK< I got the Olympus Camera program update for the camera, and now the higher definition 30 fps video shots can be as long as the card/battery last. That's a big step in the direction I thought i was going when I bought this camera! Thanks!

Now if they could just get the settings for each mode all linked together so I don't have to keep changing them every time I switch to a different mode... Turn the flash off in one mode, I would like it to STAY OFF when I switch to another mode. I hate that it doesn't remember I just turned the flash off in the last mode I was in... or that I had turned it on, and suddenly just because I changed modes, the flash has to be turned ON again. VERY ANNOYING!

With this camera not any xD card will do. Olympus yech support told that to get all the capability out this camera it needs the new M+ xD 2 Gig card or a large (8gig) micro Sd card.

If you use the proper memory card, the video is not limited at 30/fps. The panoramic mode also requires the proper memory card. The cards that Circuit City is giving away free with the purchase of this camera work just fine- all features are 100%

Thank you for giving review. It sounds like you may have a return on your hands. I was wondering if the waterproof/ruggedness was worth it. Going with Canon. Thanks again!
