Pros Very small, lots of features, large viewing screen, easy to use
Cons no view finder
Summary I had a 5 megapixel Olympus C-50. It was a great compact camera- gave it to my husband so I wanted another camera-and I did not want to buy a whole new set of digital cards.
The camera takes great pictures, very clear and sharp. There is a guide feature that automaticlaly sets pictures to your setting- example: indoors, landscape, candlelight,night,etc... Takes the guess work out of settings.
This camera is light weight and small.
There is no view finder- but I have no problem with that - I never used it anyway on the C-50
The screen is large and again very clear. You can slideshow pictures right on the screen.
I also went for this camera because of the all weather feature as I do ski and visit the beach. I dont have to worry about a little rain getting on it.
I also like the stablilization feature. Because it is so small you tend to shake a little more.
Takes a great picture
Pros fast startup, easy to use, light and ultra small, great design
Cons the advanced manual is only provided in .pdf file
Summary I've been using a Olympus digital camera during 6 years and was time for me to get a new one. Because of the great quality and reality of Olympus pictures, i knew i wanted to stick with the brand. I own the stylus 810 since 4 days now and i'm very satisfied. Image stabilizer and large ISO range (up to 3200) are the features i recommend to everybody, you can take pictures in any situation. And even if the image stabilizer wasn't on when you shot, you can always correct blurred pictures afterwards (awesome!).
How many times have you said to yourself:" it's worthless to turn on the camera. By the time i do it the action will be over.", that is now thing of the past with the new stylus 810. It allows everybody to take professional shots quickly. You won't be disappointed!
Pros Intuitive menus
Cons Poor image quality, poor auto mode performance, image stabilization useless
Summary Before anyone derides my opinion of this camera, let it be known that I know perfectly well what I'm doing. I read the entire user's manual, and I understand the functionality of this camera perfectly. There are several major issues I'd like to address.
First: The image stabilization feature is awful. First, note that this is not a mechanically-based feature; all "stabilization" is performed via image processing. Also, this feature does not allow you to manually control the ISO level; essentially, the camera forces you to operate in Auto Mode if you want to make use of the image stabilization processing. This becomes problematic when shooting in anything but the brightest of lights. 70% of the time, Auto Mode switches to ISO => 400, levels at which image noise is obvious on 1:1 scaled photos.
Second: Image quality is below average for this camera. I understand that it's a compact, and hence, I shouldn't expect top-quality performance. That said, for an 8 megapixel camera, the images are not good. Unless you're using a tripod, edges are very blurry. When viewing images at actual size, dark colors are seen as hazy mixtures of RGB pixel clusters.
Third: The Scene features are essentially useless. Often, making use of these features requires the camera to operate in 3MP mode, producing pictures significantly worse in quality when compared to my 3-year-old Sony DSC-P32 (a 3.2 MP model).
Fourth: The LCD washes out in medium to bright light. You literally cannot see anything on the LCD in these situations. It's really annoying, and it makes it difficult to frame the picture.
The compact models from Canon and Sony are superior to this model, and they're worth any extra money you have to pay to get them. I'd go that route.
Pros Great low-light photography
Cons Haven't found any yet!
Summary This is my third Olympus digital camera-- I love the brand and am loyal to good products. My C-8080 was just too cumbersome, and the thought of lugging it around kept me from taking pictures, which seemed silly when I spent so much money on it. When the 810 came out, I knew I had to have it. A small body jam packed full of features was just right for me. I love the scene modes-- they make every picture I take look perfect. The 8.0mp create GREAT large prints. I've had the camera for a week now, and I've taken more pictures with it than I did in the entire past year with my C-8080. Buy this camera. You'll be glad you did!!

Pros cheap, compact
Cons not very good
Summary The camera isn't complete crap, but it still smells. I'm sure everyone already talked about this but the camera dosen't do well in direct sunlight, It tends to wash out alot of color and make pictures look ashy almost. In the shade or indoors the camera does really well. There is a manual brightness adjustment, that helps a little bit with this problem, but 'little bit' should be emphasized. I reccomend shelling out more doe for a better camera. I went to some nice places, and I'm always a little dissapointed when I get home and look at the pics.
