Pros: Great features, including easy to use panorama. Video quality is above average as well.
Cons: Fragile cover over LCD screen, Olympus does not sell replacements requiring it to be sent in
Summary: I have compared this to friends 10 mp and this out does all of them. I am not sure why the poor reviews, I love this camera and will certainly go with Olympus next time because of this camera

Summary: As other reviers, I was very disappointed with the quality of the pictures taken with this camera.
I have taken both indoor and outdoors pictures and have never seen such grainy pictures from a 8Megapixel camera.
I have two other Olympus cameras and thought this camera would give the same good pictures as the others. But i was very disappointed. -

Summary: I was very disappointed with this camera. I have owned 2 other Olympus cameras and LOVED them. I wanted a more compact camera that is easier to take along and store. I thought this would be a fantastic product. I received it for Christmas and tried for a couple weeks to find any reason to keep it. But the image quality was inconsistent, looked like I took pictures in a snow storm. Inside and outdoor pictures were all terrible. Occassionally I would get a good picture, but most of them were terrible. I have since bought a Canon 850 Digital Elph...and I LOVE it!

"Parting ways with Olympus after 10+ years" on by afattoruso

Summary: After many years of being an all-Olympus family, we are sadly parting ways. This was our fourth digital Olympus, and we were very excited to experience the enhancements over our Stylus 410. Imagine our disappointment when: 1. the lens turned out to be defective, 2. there was no way to take a shot in focus (all this year's Christmas pics are duds), and 3. there was no way to hold the camera with one hand without covering the flash.
We are baffled as to why Olympus has moved the flash and other sensors from the center (in its previous models) to directly under the shutter-release in all the new models. This alone was a deal-killer for us.
The new models also have a bizarre menu structure, much more complicated to use than in the previous cameras. This means it takes time to find the setting you want, which means you're working on the menu, and not on taking your pictures.
On the positive side, the camera is very light and has a substantial lens.
Heartbroken after so many great years with Olympus, we're trying a different brand, and we're keeping our Stylus 410 in service.
