"Constant Companion!" on by slashmand
Pros: Lots of options/functionality. Panorama options, digital zoom, low-light shots, video, underwater use, easy transfer to computer, light,
Cons: After one or two uses in a pool, the little icons on the settings dial disappeared, but I use the camera so much that I can easily find whatever settings I am after.
Summary: I take this with me a lot and am always glad. I like to shut the flash off because I prefer more natural lighting (there is a "Available Light" setting which works well, although makes some shots grainy). I have also had a lot of fun with the panorama options. I have seen iPhones do a little better job with this lately, but I don't have one of those, so...
I have had this for a couple of years. I bought an extra battery from Microcenter and keep it charged and ready-to-go. One battery charge lasts a good amount of time anyway, but I like never having to worry when I'm out. In the couple of years I have used this, I have gone through one set of two batteries in this fashion, but I found them cheap enough that I had no problems replacing them.
I haven't played around with different image qualities. I am satisfied with whatever "normal" is because I use this mostly for sharing with my friends, but I have captured plenty of stunning shots which get oohs and ahhs from them.
I have dropped this a few times with no problems. It would be nice if the computer USB adapter were of a more common connector type. Because it isn't, I have to really be sure to keep track of the chord that came with the camera. If I lost it, however, it is easy to pop out the memory card and get the pixs to the computer in a different way. -
"Be sure to get an extended warranty - hardly waterproof" on by Yancy73
Pros: Camera takes EXCELLENT day / sunlight photos and it fairly easy to use.
Cons: The waterproof components quit working after exactly one year and now the camera is giving me problems. Also, night photos are not great quality, but then again, I have yet to get a camera that can take decent night photos.
Summary: If you are considering purchasing this camera for the waterproof capabilities, I would rethink my decision.

"Great for outdoor adventures" on by Giddyupcupcake
Pros: Has functioned well as a sturdy camera during outdoor, athletic adventures. I've taken pictures with this camera during week-long cycling adventures, canoeing in the Everglades, snowshoeing in the Rockies and swimming in the ocean.
Cons: As good as it is in handling adverse conditions, the picture quality does not meet my standards for landscapes and portraits.
Summary: Great, worry-free camera for adverse conditions but may need a second camera for higher quality photos during normal activity.

"Don't buy for Olympus image quality... or toughness..." on by hsoj_porrah
Pros: OK price, presumably tough in many regards - the concept should be applauded - the execution....:(
Cons: Mediocre image, poor intuition/interpretation of programmed conditions, Screen broke within 2months in non-challenging conditions
Summary: Seems they forgot to toughen the screen. Camera survived skiing etc, but screen cracked while in my pocket at a restaurant. I guess the Tough is only as tough as its weakest component. As stated elsewhere, image quality etc not good but passable if it lived up to its tough name. Pretty much does it's own thing (takes the picture it, not you, wants) so you have to learn to force it to do what you want with workarounds - not awfully convenient. Interface is painfully archaic (think space invaders) and use didnt come too intuitively. It also appears that some functions aren't availble if using an SD adaptor - something not clear until after you have bought the card and tried it out.
Waiting for a decent competitor
