"Nice little camera for the price"
Pros: Easy to use. Great photo quality. Excellent software
Cons: Seems a little slow on focusing in low ligtht
Summary: My wife bought this camera for me for Christmas. It's my first digital camera so I don't have a basis for comparison. I like this little camera though. It fits in my shirt pocket, It's easy to use, and takes great pictures. It does record video, but I don't use this function because I have a digital video camera which, by the way, also takes digital still photos. Neither camera performs their secondary function well enough to use regularly for that purpose. This camera does have an audio record only mode which I thought was kind of interesting, and could be useful at times.
One thing I really like about this camera is the bundled software. I can upload pictures to my computer in about 3 to 5 seconds which really extends battery life if you don't have the optional AC adapter. At that speed who needs it anyway. It also has a photo editing program which seems a bit short on features, but is easy to use, and has an instant fix feature that works really well. It has another program called "Photo Slate" which makes It really easy to print photos from the uploaded files. I can have pictures from my camera to my printer in less than 1 minute.
I purchased a one hour battery charger with 4 nimh batteries. This seems to be sufficient unless you planned on taking more than 50 or 60 pictures a day with the LCD screen on. Auto focusing in dim areas seems to take about 2 to 4 seconds, and flash recovery about 5 seconds. This could be relative to battery state but seemed a little slow. One thing I wish this camera had, and all digital cameras need, is a separate button to turn on and off the LCD screen without having to find it in the menu each time. The menu buttons are easy enough to use, but this seems to me like a feature that one would like to have instant access to due to the frequency of it's use (for me at least).
I am overall very happy with this camera. I just purchased a 1 Gig SD memory card for my upcoming trip to Disney, given that the internal memory is about 11 Meg and it doesn't come with a SD card. If you are a professional photogragher you may want more, but if you just want to point, shoot, and print, this is a great little camera.
