"Best Small Digi-Cam Available"
Pros: Amazing Design, Opitical Image Stabilization
Cons: Low light photos are a little orange
Summary: I've owned my FX-9, my first digital camera for about a month. First off, the design of this camera (I have the black version) is stunning. Whenever I pull it out of my pocket at a party, people ask "Where did you get that camera?!?". It's small form factor begs me to take it with me wherever I go, and the matte black finish is a nice departure from the silver finish that seems to be the standard nowadays. The camera is well built, with the cheap plastic battery/SD card door and the on/off switch that can be accidentally activated when sliding it into your pocket being the only downsides.
The beauty is more than skin deep. Despite what CNet's review says, the controls are simple and logical, and took me no time at all to learn. The optical image stabilization is a plus, with or without flash. The pictures are stunning, and at 6 megapixel, make beautiful photos beyond 8x10 prints. I have noticed that in low light, pictures become a little orange, but if you experiment, this can be overcome. The burst mode is responsive and can result in beautiful action shots. I took this camera to Honolulu to photograph friends competing in the Honolulu Marathon and came away with beautiful action shots of them on the course.
