"This camera rocks"
Pros: Image stabilization; Leica lens; beautiful and simple design
Cons: videos take lots of memory; no optical viewfinder
Summary: I bought this camera based on the strength of review from various sources on the web, and I'm so far very happy with it.
The display is big, bright and beautiful. Although the manual controls are limited, I've found that the camera does quite well when used in point-and-shoot mode. When in doubt about the light, the auto-bracket mode lets you capture the same shot at several different exposures, so you never miss a shot. The optical image stabilization works wonders in lowish lighting. The videos this camera takes are smooth and crisp, but they do take up alot of room on your card. If you're gonna use this camera to take movies, you need a high-speed 1 GB card, minimum.
I took this camera to a party recently, and it was the star of the party. The fact that it's black attracted alot of attention! Silly? Sure, but it is a very attractive camera.
I love this camera, but I'm a little nervous about the screen. I just ordered an Invisible Shield protector, so hopefully that'll keep the scratches away.
Bottom line: this camera is head and shoulders above the Canon SD-550, it's biggest competitor.
