"not as good as expected"
Pros: long zoom lens, 8 million pixel, SLR style body
Cons: TOO MUCH noise, small CCD.
Summary: The camera is so good when you see the specs, but when you use it, you will suddendly be sad, why? Because there is TOOOOO much noise on the photots, even ISO 100!

Hey buddy! I think you need to read the manuals and do your part of research before rating a product. I had this camera for a few months, and the first few eeks I thought it had sensor problems and noise problems, but with the right settings and some tweaking it works very good. I also use Photoshop and it clears up the pictures pretty good. If you don't know what you are doing with one of these cameras, try using the factory set scene modes. Maybe that will help you realize how under-rated this camera is.

Did you not go to any preview site and read the size of the sensor? Of course you will see some noise at High ISO settings, you will also see a lot of noise at ISO 400 on the Nikon D50, If you were so worried about noise you should have went for a high end or med end DLSR. Larger sensors and a larger price. I think you fail to realize that you paid very little for this camera compared to others that don't even come close to its capabilities. Still given all of this, I have taken many pictures at ISO 100 to 400 and the small amount of noise I saw at 400 was easily corrected with Neat Image or Photoshop CE. For the price, I really saw no more noise than many of my friends cheaper DSLR's, especially the Canon Pro Rebel. That camera is terrible with noise at least the one that I tested was. I think you are making a bigger issue out of the noise than ther really is. You will not find a better lens, better camera for the money.

we own and use this camera and shoot semi-professionally with it - and yes, in low light it is a little noisy. in our studio lights or outdoors, it looks good.
either buy a DSLR or - if you can't afford a DSLR buy a copy of noise ninja and you'll be happier. -
A rating of 5? Are you SURE??
I cannot, cannot CANNOT understand why you have said this camera deserves a rating of 5, due to noise!
I have 5 great cameras and the fabulous FZ30 makes 6. Would a camera deserving of a 5 rating be voted European camera of the year 2005? Would it be honored if it was really too noisy??
Like the comment made previously, do you really have one, and if you do (which I doubt) do you know what you are saying?
I say no more.... -
I own a camera since last week . First impresion - Super camera and so many features.Great resolution on LCD display . Fantastic menu . Easy to use and great zoom . Leica optic !!!! . It should provide the best pictures you can imagine . But pictures taken at night are to noisy .I could accept pictures at 80 iso !!! . But don`t do it on the higher range .
So i am happy for camera but not happy about noise . I post a e-mail to Panasonic what to do with a problem . I think noise killer could be a solution , but i am waiting for anwser from Panasonic Company . I realy want to keep the camera only if they have some improvments . -
Is you opinion based on any fact(s) or merely an opinion?
