I read most of my reviews from Steve's Digicams website anf reviews. He seems to be the most logical and puts the cameras through test shots of all kinds, he heard about a noise issue and this is what he said:
"There has been alot of fuss about the FZ30's noise levels when using ISO speeds of 200 or higher. When we first posted our review of this model, we did not comment much on this subject as we did not feel that the levels were dramatically higher than similar models. Overall the noise levels do increase as the ISO sensitivity is raised - just like you see on almost any camera - with ISO 400 being the worst. Therefore, we do not feel that the FZ30 suffers from "horrible noise issues" like many people have been saying. Judge for yourself by looking out our set of samples from ISO 80 to 400 at both f/8.0 and f/11.0, on our samples page."
If you go to his site and look at the photos he did, he took the same photos in 80,200,400 ISO and you would be hard pressed to see the difference. I grabbed the pics and put them through my photo program and tried to zoom in and still I did not see the noise issue anywhere near what people said. I know you have since appologized to Panasonic on this site, but I just wanted to show you that very few think the noise is a issue, if you read the results of other cameras with the same size sensor you will see the same talk of noise, which is normal noise at higher ISO settings which as you know can be cleaned up pretty easily. You bought a great camera, and as I said before time heals all problems, you are now learing how to use the camera and you are seeing the great pictures I have seen with mine. Enjoy. -
I am glad that you found out that it takes time to learn how to use this camera, you can reduce a lot of the noise by going manual. I found this camera's noise problems were blown way out of perportion. I use ISO 200 all the time and what little noise I see after using manual settings on the camera can be reduced quickly by neat image program which is a freebee. I salute you for updating your review. I have not found a camera with the FZ30's capabilities out there yet. I actually give it a 9 out of 10.

Mark,
Is the noise on the picture still a "problem" or have you solved the problem. I'm very curious.
