"A Delightful Upgrade from the simple Point-and-Shoot."

Summary: After seeing the review by our analyst, Lori, I must say that it certainly does not do any justice to the Panasonic Lumix FZ35, in fact, I find it misleading to people who want to buy a quality camera at a very affordable price.
Indeed, if compared to DSLR cameras, this beauty has some what strong capabilities, but indeed cannot reproduce the image quality that professional cameras can. Thus a comparison between them would be unfair and inappropriate.
The FZ35 is targeted for that particular customer, who had fun already with the small point-and-shoot camera and is looking for something better, but seem rather overwhelmed by the extensive features of a DSLR's. If this is your dilemma, then look no further, the Panasonic Lumix FZ35 will be a delightful upgrade from the simple point-and-shoot, while at the same time, getting your feet wet into the domain of Semi-DSLR photography.
Even though, this review could seem at times harsh with this camera, I feel that given a closer look and comparing it to other models in its own category, like the Canon PowerShot SX20 IS, or the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX1, you will find the Panasonic Lumix FZ35 less clunky and much better in the stability control and image quality.
Overall, if what you are looking to do, is to take beautiful photos and not professional quality photos that only $900+ DSLR's cameras can take, then you wont go wrong in purchasing this camera.
I encourage you to see other reviews and see the overall consensus of what other customers who bought this camera have to say about it. Most likely you will find only but accolades and compliments of this gem of camera.

I must agree. I recently purchased this camera in Australia(it came from Hong Kong at the right price) to replace a simple point and shoot. It is superb, great picture quality, excellent stablisation, fantastic video, many shooting options for the amature, light weight and the right price.

This review almost kept me from buying the camera. Then I realized that the complaints about "picture quality" were limited to JPEGs in poor light - well, I shoot in RAW and without a hotshoe I didn't expect fancier lighting capabilities. I considered the new Canon Rebel T2Si, which look fantastic, but for three time the money and that with only a 50mm lens. I bought the Lumix for about what a so-so zoom lens would cost for a DSLR and then I'd have to lug it about. I find the FZ35 to be the perfect compromise.

I agree with both comments. Lori's review really undersells the quality of this camera when compared to other reviews on the web right now. The same can be said for her review of the Lumix ZS3 as well.

Totally agree with your FZ35 review. I almost thought Lori had picked up the wrong camera. She needs to stop comparing this level camera with professional DLSR's that cost thousands of dollars. Aside from saving a fortune, there are plenty of advantages that this one has over SLR's anyway. This is the best camera I've ever owned.
