"Accept the limitations and you have a great photography tool."
Pros: Leica lens, Image Stabilization, little to no distortion, great exposure and colors
Cons: noise at ISO over 200, NR too strong
Summary: I've owned a Canon S2 which I sold beause the images were soft and overly processed. I soon purchased a Nikon D50 with an 18-200mm VR lens. I love this combo, but its heavy and cumbersome. So, I purchased a Panasonic FZ8 as a backup and for times wh... read more >>

"Excellent light compact walk-around camera"
Pros: Most settings available on camera without going into the menus. Fast and accurate auto-focus. Excellent electronic viewfinder. RAW mode. Excellent Leica ZOOM !

Summary: I would highly recommend this camera. The simple (heart) mode is excellent and great for beginners. The camera can also be used with many manual settings, I prefer the P setting with cloudy (AWB), fine (picture quality), 100 ISO. The only drawback i... read more >>

"A uniquely capable small camera with remarkable zoom range, excellent stabilizer and features."
Pros: Big zoom range, RAW files, good optical quality, very good handling despite relatively small size, close focusing capabilities, light weight, menu navigation: easy to read/understand, joystick, f2.8,
Cons: No shutter release cable possible, files exhibit noise even at low ISOs, auto switching between LCD and viewfinder might be nice
Summary: Considering the reasonable price, this is an excellent camera capable of professional results. The long range zoom is excellent. The stabilizer works as well or better than that on my Canon pro lenses. Fun to use. Small and lightweight. At the long ... read more >>
