Pros Superb optics
Great Intelligent Auto mode
Built-in ND filter
Cons No automatic lens cover
Would prefer at least 12MP (over the current 10MP offering)
A little pricey when not on sale
Summary A perfect companion when not using your bigger DLSR or megazoom. Ideal for travel photography and a nice step-up camera for beginners that want better quality photos (due to the great Intelligent Auto mode)... but it also has plenty of advanced features for more experienced photographers who want a great [almost] pocket camera. The lens cap is really the only issue I have with the camera- it's easily misplaced if you don't have it tethered to the camera, and it really defeats the purpose of having a more compact camera that starts up so quickly if you have to remove the lens manually every time you snap a photo. However, IQ is first rate, and very comparable to the Sony RX100 (especially if you're not blowing up the photos to larger than 9x12), and it's several hundred dollars cheaper. Quality build, great glass, and a great auto mode allow this camera to really satisfy a large amount of consumers looking to take great pictures and make great memories. Highly recommended!
