"Great camera for the price" on by vodkadrummer

Pros: Great blend of features/ease of use
    Picture quality=A
Optical Zoom is quiet and smooth
Scene modes=very helpful & produce superior results utilizing the best features
Bundled software searches pics using facial recognition=A
    HD Video+stability=A

Cons: Teenage step-daughter can't get enough pics of herself for networking sites.(says she likes this camera & says it makes her "look skinny"...so much for the hand-me-down Sony Cybershot DSC-P72.

Summary: Not sure what the previous poster is concerned with. This camera is at the top of the heap of the cameras in it's class. You should find very little to complain about for a price point between $225-$250. The low light pics turned out fine for me(flash & no flash). Of course there will be some degree of noise when next to no light and no flash is used. I did adjust the ISO etc as needed. To ensure the best outcome in low/no light situations, you may want to use the high sensitivity scene option. I also found the colors to be accurate, and the white balance on par. (have yet to use the manual white balance feature)
**Overall, the average occasional user should find this a good value given the many features/quality. You can take decent video for the occasional family gathering and great photos with one unit. To me, that's important and functional. So far, this camera is money well spent.

"Good but struggles in low light & with moving objects." on by jbenge

Pros: Very compact camera with 8x optical zoom which is capable of taking very good quality photos but only if the lighting is decent. Movie quality is reasonable too.

Cons: In low light conditions images are poor unless the subject is close to the camera....this may well be a con for all point & shoot cameras. Stuggles also with moving objects which tend to come out blurry. Flash can be slow to recharge.

Summary: Good compact camera but only when the lighting is adequate.

"Great camera for travels with nice zoom and autofocus." on by gandhalf_thewhite

Pros: Outstanding pictures provided you read the instructions before shooting. 8X zoom is awesome, scene modes are perfect for each situation, easy in using its resources. Battery life is also great. HD movie is clear and perfect.

Cons: Panoramic mode is poor. Mode selector should lock after selection.

Summary: In fact I bought the ZX1 in UK. It's the ZR1 sister from Europe. I studied a lot before buying this camera but it had to be a Panasonic 'cause I'm very used to their layout and the ergonomics they use. Although in manual they say it is not a 100% panoramic mode, I was disappointed with that resource. I really take great pictures with this camera even in burst mode or poor light ambiences. OIS is superb and really helps because my hands shake a little bit. The autofocus and the AF tracking really work fine for me and the colors are just perfect and bright. I would consider this one of the best cameras I have, in special for travels when I leave my Nikon D90 at home.

"Fine Camera and Video - Zoom is noisy" on by karatekid69

Pros: Recyle time is very good. Simple and easy to use camera. Photo quality is average.

Cons: Surprised no one mentioned this, but the zoom feature, while recording, is rather noisy. Called company and was told the mic. is located too close to the zoom mechanism. So there's no fix for this problem.

Summary: Good camera for the price. Wouldn't recommend if you want to do much in the way of video given the issues with the zoom.

"great camera, but WAY too fragile" on by billox1

Pros: It takes very good pix, the lens is superb

Cons: Ours stopped working after a couple of months, during which it had barely even been out of our home. We took it back, and apparently it had 'liquid damage' - water had somehow got into it. Liquid damage is not covered on warranty - end of story.

Summary: A nice camera, but badly let down by simply not being anywhere near robust enough for normal use. I would absolutely not recommend it to anyone wanting a camera for normal family activities. We never took it anywhere near water, and we're pretty bitter about it - the camera clearly needs to be treated with kid gloves, and in our opinion is absolutely not fit for any sort of outdoor use.
