The good: Very compact for its specs; comprehensive feature set; high-quality images; long battery life.

The bad: Autofocus speed average at best; continuous-shooting mode only 1fps; no slow-sync flash setting; no RAW mode.

The bottom line: This is a great choice for anyone who wants a highly portable camera that doesn't sacrifice shooting flexibility or picture quality.

It feels quite solidly built, however, and its buttons and dials operate crisply. At 8.8 ounces with the battery and the media installed, the 550 isn't exactly a featherweight, but it's no trouble to schlepp around. And its modest dimensions let it slip easily into any handy pocket.

"5,000 Pics Later and Still LUV IT!" By

Pros Simply excellent. Battery life.. Battery life and more Battery life!!! I bought this camera for $700 (with extra battery etc.) and I STILL think its worth it at that same old price! LUV IT! Would buy it all over again.

Cons Too many features (if that could be a con).
