"Great camera with fun features" on by jorge0608

Pros: easy to use navigation on 3" LCD screen, Lightweight,

Cons: Flimsy AC, USB port covers

Summary: I have been using this camera for a few days and I must say that I am very impressed with the overall quality of this camera and it's features. It took a few minutes getting used to using the 3" LCD screen to navigate through menus but I am a big fan of it now. Buttons on the LCD are nice and big that is easy to use for people who have big hands.

The editing features that are built in are more of "fun" editing tools and should not be used to substitute your fav editing program. You can insert pictures frames onto your pictures, you can write a quote onto the picture using the LCD screen and the provided stylus pen. Another nice feature is the ability to convert your pictures into B&W or sepia with the built in editing tools. You can crop and resize your pictures aswell. I must say that using the B&W and sepia feature gave me fair results and should only be used for "on the fly" editing.
You can also add "stamps" onto your picture to add more eye candy. You have choices from flowers to red lips and everything in between.

I have not confirmed the quality of the printed pictures but would assume that with a 6mp camera, prints of 4x6 and 5x7 would be more than acceptable for the average person. I use an Olympus E-20N DSLR for more serious projects. My wife really loves the simplistic use of the camera.

This camera is both MAC and PC compatible. With my MAC, I just plugged it in and it worked. No drivers to install!

The only con about this camera is the flimsy covers covering the AC and USB port. This covers snap into place and are held in place by some type of flexible cable. I am sure that with use, these will have potential to snap off. Also, It would be nice if Pentax provided a carrying case and some screen covers for the nice LCD screen.
