Upside: The Key010 plugs directly into just about any computer via a built-in USB interface, so you can upload and download music, photos, and data without a cable. And you won't need to install drivers on post-2000 operating systems. In our initial tests, MP3 playback sounded fine. The integrated 2-megapixel camera promises to deliver better image quality than its predecessor did, and the shots we took during our meeting with Philips came out sharp enough. A durable magnesium casing provides protection from heavy wear and tear.
Downside: The Key010's 128MB still isn't a ton of memory, especially for a device listed at $150, and there's no expansion slot. Also, the camera doesn't have a flash, so forget about shooting indoors.
Outlook: If you're looking for a pocket-size device that plays tunes, snaps photos, and lets you transport and share both, the Philips Key Ring Key010 is probably your best option. Just don't expect the sort of pics you'd get from a high-end digital camera.
