"Excellent everyday camera"
Pros: Produces solid, sharp photos. Great value now that Canon has introduced new A-series cameras
Cons: A bit bulky, redeye can sometimes be a problem
Summary: My girlfriend and I have a Digital Rebel but we use the A80 as our everyday camera for snapping shots of friends (candids). This camera performs great in this role. The 4 megapixels is enough to print very good 8x10's and outstanding 4x6's. The rotating LCD screen is also great for holding the camera at arm's length and taking self portraits. This camera has enough options and settings to allow you to experiment if you're in the mood. Canon recently upgraded its A-series line to include the A520, which is essentially an improved A80 (smaller, better zoom). If you don't need a pocket-sized camera, you can 'steal' the A80 right now for under $200. This camera does pick up redeye but I find that Microsoft's Picture Manager's redeye removal tool does a decent and quick job at getting rid of it. Canon quality is unmatched when compared to Kodak, Olympus, Pentax, Konica Minolta, etc. and better value when compared to its only real competitor, Nikon. Don't waste your money by buying HP!
