"THIS CAMERA RUINED MY VACATION!!!" on by jmvargas55
Pros: great pictures; lovely features
Cons: WIPED OUT OVER 350 PICTURES, HAD NO CONNECTION WITH MY COMPUTER, NOT MADE FOR MAC
Summary: I thought this camera was God, such a good deal through Circuit CIty with a free 1 GB chip and $50 off. I went on my spring break vacation last week and had 150 pictures from the first few days of my trip and the "easy" Smart Touch feature was the cause of the first pain, its so easy to maneuver around and change features... it's also just as easy to wipe out YOUR WHOLE MEMORY CHIP. So I got over that and went on taking pictures throughout my vacation after realizing there was a "security feature" that "locks" and "protects" your pictures. So I have been trying to connect my camera to my computer, and my computer still could not make connection with the camera after installing the driver software as provided in the box. In trying to find a different way to make a connection, the camera for some reason ERASED ALL MY PICTURES AGAIN, this time there were more and they were all protected, now there is now reason anybody should put up with any of this. Unless you want to lose precious memories, I HIGHLY suggest against purchasing this camera.

"Why do we need 10 megapixels?" on by jskrenes
Pros: High megapixel, innovative controls
Cons: Controls might not work well, do we need 10mp?
Summary: For a $400 price tag, you could pick up a 4-6 megapixel camera that has a higher optical zoom, far more useful for everyday applications than a 10 megapixel.

"Decent P&S camera" on by techmonkey
Pros: CCD sensor; Large sensor resolution; nice size LCD display; fast continuous shooting mode
Cons: Small aperture size; 3x optical zoom wont get you much; limited light sensitivity
Summary: Mind you, this camera has not been released yet and I dont own one or have used one. My opinions are based solely on the specs of this device.
For a point and shoot camera (P&S), this Samsung camera has some real potential. CCD sensor is nice (though CMOS is better when it comes to battery life). A large LCD display is great, though it waits to be seen how much info (and what info) can be displayed. 7 frames a second in continous shooting mode is awesome, especially compared to pricier dSLRs.
However, I would have liked to see a better focal range on this camera, considering the high resolution. Also, ISO 1000, while good, could have gone a little further (3200 would have been great but 1600 is getting to be pretty standard for digital cameras nowadays). As a result, night time photogrpahy is going to be limited with this camera. The limited aperture range is also going to limit the creativity in the type of photos you take. Also, a 3x optical zoom is pretty sad for a 10 megapixel camera.
For an all around 10MP camera that really is a P&S camera, this camera has some potential. However, I would recommend looking at dSLRs or even some of the Sony Cybershot cameras for something with more manual and creative controls.
