"Gotta get it"
on by staggermeisterPros Great zoom, clear pictures, great price
Cons none that I can think of
Summary I’ve been searching for the right camera at the right price for some time now and I have finally found it. The NV7 looks, feels, and works like a dream. It is a great compact size (less than an inch thick and fits easily in your pocket), and has an amazing 7x zoom with Samsung’s picture stabilizing system that produces crystal clear pictures for those with shaky hands like me. Samsung has also included a sensitive touch pad that literally puts all of the camera’s functions at your finger tips. Also includes a video editing function that allows you to edit videos right on the camera. Overall, a great camera at a great price.

"too much noise"
on by okapi1Pros build and interface
Cons digital noise
Summary This is my second digital camera. A couple of years ago i purchased a Konica/Minolta Dimage Xg (3.1Mp). The Dimage produces much lower noise images than the NV7. The noise is so much lower that the effective resolution of the cameras is essentially identical. i really hope that samsung updates the firmware to resolve this issue. Although software filters like Neat Image help a lot, they don't fully compensate fot the noise problems this camera has. As other reviewers have mentioned, the construction is excellent. I also can't speak highly enough about the interface - it is fast and intuitive. My only complaint with regards to the interface is that some of the manual controls (focus/exposure/etc.) use a slider that is too slow/insensitive. Finally, my early analysis of the image stabilization is that it may improve the image, but not to the point that anyone would be satisfied with the final product. I am going to keep this camera because i like the build and interface, and hope they upgrade the firmware.

"Better than you (or I) might think."
on by grahamisdedPros Nice fast lens, solid and compact body, great control interface
Cons Definitely noisy, smart touch interface doesn't work so well for evertything, lens is pretty telephoto
Summary Probably my only two major qualms about this camera are its 38mm lens, which is not even close to wide enough, and its noisy photos, which get honestly really bad over ISO 200. Otherwise, this is an innovative and almost unique camera that i would call a success. At $300, its also a great value. Camera operation as a whole is very fast, and the lens is quick as well all the way to the full 7x zoom. The smart touch interface, which works like the soft keys on a cell phone, is intuitive and makes accessing manual functions far easier than on any non-slr camera i've used. the only times the system falters is for image playback, when you have to slide your finger across the buttons to scroll through pictures, and when using manual focus, when it is far too slow. Also, the optical photo stabilization, which i hear is a CCD-shift system, is only so-so. But if you're looking for a compact camera that stands out from the crowd, has some manual power, and takes gorgeous photos (at ISO 200 or below) i suggest giving the NV7 a look. It won over this hardcore olympus/canon/panasonic fan easily.

"Should be better"
on by MushroomStamperPros Build Quality
Cons Noise and Noise
Summary The style and the build quality of this thing is great. Its built like a tank and has some fun features. However I cant hear a thing because all of the NOISE. Wow noise, I have messed with the settings a ton and cant get rid of it even with a ton of light. I dont reccomend this camera at all unless you plan on throwing it off a roof or out of a plane or something. I do like the look of samsungs new line of P&S but the image quality is how should pick the camera. Bad move on my part.

"Cannot fault the overall performance of the Samsung NV7"
on by robbie 1000Pros Has a host of options and once mastered produces excellent photographs
Cons Took a while to understand and operate its many functions
Summary The Samsung NV7 is my first digital camera as i have been using my Nikon FE with a host of interchangable lens for many years.
The Samsung Digital Camera does all that the heavy Nikon and acess.could do,but with a fraction of the weight and inconvenience.
The picture quality is excellent in my opinion and have printed out A4 colour sheets which are more than satisfactory.
Colour and contrast is superb.
Picture resolution/definition excellent.
I have much more experimenting to do as yet, however i am more than happy at this stage.
