"too much noise"
Pros: build and interface
Cons: digital noise
Summary: This is my second digital camera. A couple of years ago i purchased a Konica/Minolta Dimage Xg (3.1Mp). The Dimage produces much lower noise images than the NV7. The noise is so much lower that the effective resolution of the cameras is essentially identical. i really hope that samsung updates the firmware to resolve this issue. Although software filters like Neat Image help a lot, they don't fully compensate fot the noise problems this camera has. As other reviewers have mentioned, the construction is excellent. I also can't speak highly enough about the interface - it is fast and intuitive. My only complaint with regards to the interface is that some of the manual controls (focus/exposure/etc.) use a slider that is too slow/insensitive. Finally, my early analysis of the image stabilization is that it may improve the image, but not to the point that anyone would be satisfied with the final product. I am going to keep this camera because i like the build and interface, and hope they upgrade the firmware.

I was looking forward to this camera ever since the press announcement.
This is a fantastic camera, I love the interface, the build. I promised near DSLR quality without being a full bulky SLR. Plus I loved the Movie Mode (true MPEG4, with pause capability).
Yet I am disappointed. The pictures are too noisy. I have a Canon S210 from a couple of years ago (3.1m), and get pretty much the same quality. Especially in the evening / indoor I have to say that the Canon S210 is much better. And I played with all settings (OPS on/off, Flash, ISO etc etc).
Unfortunately this is not what I hoped for. And I really wanted to love the camera.
