Pros None that I have found except price
Cons Software gliches
Summary I have had this camera for about 6 months. Out of the box setup straight forward and pics are ok. In auto mode get MANY out of focus pics. Even when using the ASR mode its hit and miss on if the focus will be ok. Also since it is out of warranty have had MANY issues with the camera turning on! Power light lights up but the camera just sits blank. Have talked with Samsung teches and nothing seems to resovle issue. Replaced batteries several times which results in proper operation for 1 session then its back to problem mode. Other cameras in market place in this price range that I would opt for if I where to replace this camera. I do not recommend purchase.
Pros Price, Image Qaulity, Feature Set, Form Factor
Cons It's not made in America, cursory printed documentation (Detailed docs on CDROM).
Summary Easy to use, Excellent Optics, Starts quick, No shutterlag, and Outstanding 30FPS video, Simple controls. If your looking for th most bang for your buck I doubt you'll find a better camera for the money. The image procssing software is incrediably refined. The pictures I taken with this camers have exceded my expectations with no noise or artifacts. I belive this camera benefits from it's more expensive siblings. The Imagae Stabilization, Scene and other software features are welcome hand-me-downs from the cameras big brothers. It looks well made, but if it only last a year I will feel like I got more than my moneys worth.
Pros stops the action with no blur, high quality photos, low cost
Cons none that I've found
Summary I photograph horse sports and I can't tell you how many shots I missed from slow lag times and the constant blur from daylight settings. But I bought this little camera and went out to the horse pasture and got every shot I'd ever hoped for, not to mention stopping the action so clearly that I caught every single hair from the horses' manes flowing in the wind. Couldn't EVER do that with my Nikon Coolpix 8700. This little camera also comes with advanced antishake and an ISO 1000. This camera is a WINNER!
Pros Great picture quality, easy to use, takes a licking and keeps on ticking
Cons Eats batteries like none other
Summary I have had this camera for two years now and I absolutely love it. Great picture quality, east to use, compact... I even had an accident with sand and the lens but it refuses to quit. BUT within hours of opening the box I was surprised to find how fast the batteries went on the camera. I was buying lithium batteries every hour, normal AA's within every 10 minutes! It was quite frustrating to take 5-10 pictures before the camera would beep, shut down, and refuse to turn back on. Luckily I've found Energizer Rechargeables (20mins to charge 4 batteries) last for days, taking well over 300 pictures on a set of two AA rechargeables, plus video.
Besides the battery problem I have no qualms with the camera and absolutely adore it. Goes everywhere with me and takes the best photos -- even compared to some 10mp cameras -- for its price.
If you get this camera, go out and spend the extra to get the energizer rechargeables so you won't be spending more in the long run on batteries.
Pros The 20 pictures you get with a pair of batteries look okay.
Take up space in that empty drawer.
Now you have a reason to buy that 48 pack of batteries you've been eying at Costco.
Cons Battery suckage is unreal!
Summary I cannot for the life of me figure out how this camera has received four or five stars from people! Never have I owned an electrical product which was so poor with batteries. I'm getting 15 to 20 shots per set of batteries. No kidding! I thought I was using older batteries, so I put a pair of just purchased batteries in and got 18 pictures. If you use rechargeable batteries then you're always changing and charging. You can't recharge fast enough to be able to continuously take pictures. I've tried various types of batteries and get pretty much the same result, although I guess I'll go buy a Lithium charger and some batteries to try them out. Feh!
What you save in the price of the camera you'll quickly surpass in battery and charger cost.
I spent a little more on a Canon Powershot SD1100 Elph for my wife and hers takes comparable pictures all day without a recharge or replacement.
I so regret buying this camera and I wish I had taken it back immediately. Aggghhhh....
