"Great Camera"on by wegarnett
Pros I love the 5 frames per second speed for action shots and the high ISO settings for low light. I rarely make use of the Live Mode, but like that ability if I want it.
Cons I have an A-100, so it took a little time to figure out the menus, but then that will happen with any new product.
Summary This camera has done everything I have wanted it to do. If I want a video camera, I'll buy a video camera. I want to take great pictures, and this does that.
Pros Decent burst mode, Build quality, features, battery life, design, lens options are cheap, tilt screen is a life saver!
Cons heavy, no video, odd placement of a couple of buttons is weird. Mostly just the top ones.
Summary This is a tank of a camera that takes great shots! Especially in RAW. It's a little on the heavy side but it really does handle very well. I bought this as a backup camera to an A-33 but it quickly became my preferred camera for shoots. This is easily the best camera I've ever owned or put my hands on for straight shooting. You will have to pry it from my cold dead fingers to get it away from me. When you just need something to work and work well, this is the camera for you.
Pros Fast, did I say that before? Renders beautiful colors, with little noise, in dim light. Low noise at high ISO. A Mount uses all of the excellent Minolta AF lenses, plus the newer Sony Alpha lenses. Built in HDR. Live view focus. Feels nice.
Cons No video, but that's OK. That's what I use my Panasonic AVCHD video recorder for.
Summary Sony has built an inexpensive, fast, accurately performing DSLR, with many extra features, that will keep you intersted for quite awhile. Lots to like. This may be the best bargain in a Sony DSLR. Very happy with this.

Pros Smart Teleconverter is a great feature that allows capturing a reasonably good photo that you couldn't otherwise.
Cons no video option
Summary Cnet says "For instance, the Smart Teleconverter--digital zoom--doesn't belong on a camera like this". Why not? The converter allows the camera to take a photo with good focus, exposure, white balance, at high magnification that you wouldn't be able to otherwise. I don't use this feature much, but I've taken some nice close-ups of wildlife that look great in snapshots or slide show resolutions. People are amazed. No, you can't enlarge and print to anywhere near 20x30, but how many photos end up being that size and framed on your wall. Cnet, don't knock a useful feature on a camera that makes it more of a Swiss Army knife piece of equipment.
