"Philosophically this camera is wrong" on by deecee
Pros: Small size, easy to carry
Cons: 7Mega pixel in a tiny sensor size
Summary: This camera is a clear indication of this digital camera maker's attempt to lure inexperienced user into buying a new camera using the "megapixel myth". Technology available does not allow camera this size to contain this kind of megapixel count and provide reasonable photo under even moderate ISO setting (above 200). A 1/2.5inch sensor can not provide good pixel resolution in a 7 megapixel density. A camera this size should have 4 to 5 megapixels max, this will give the best sensor size and pixel density combinatoin to give the best final output. Cramming 7 megapixel into a 1/2.5 inch sensor is just Sony's way of trying to trick people into buying this product because the huge pixel count. Besides a large file size, the 7 megapixel sensor will have no appreciable advantage over a 4-5 megapixel sensor in actual photo output. At a photo size large enough to deserve 7 megapixel count. the noise performance of the sensor will render the picture grainy anyway.
Further more, Sony is still stubbornly insisting using the silly memory stick format in an attempt to further lock people into their product lines.
A much wiser investment for anyone wanting a small digital camera is to stick with a 4 mega pixel unit and don't let the big pixel count fool you into paying more. If more megapixel and enlargment is the desire, then go with a dSLR camera.
