"Waste of money"on by onweke
Pros none whatsoever
Cons Bad dark photos
Summary Even my 3.2megapixel Sony camera did way better than this. It takes very dark pictures even outside on a sunny day if you are not in the glare of the sun. THis is very bad and totally unexpected of Sony. I cant even obtain a refund because the store Staples has a 14 day return policy and it expired. Dont pay more than $30 for this camera. A plastic disposable or a camera phone can take same or better pictures.
Pros Large LCD, easy to use when it worked
Cons Doesn't recognize installed memory stick, slow & expensive to repair
Summary My DSC-S600 was a nice camera when I first got it. But after 2 months it started having problems. It occasionally lost contact with the memory stick. We missed lots of photos at Disney last year with this problem. Sent it in under warranty for repairs (slow to repair) and it worked for about a month after getting it back. Should have sent it back, but with busy life, didn't get to it in time. Now it doesn't recognize the installed memory stick at all. If I squeeze the camera where the memory stick is sometimes it connects. Service company wants $120 minimum to repair - comparable cost to new one with warranty. 16 months and this Sony camera is JUNK! BEWARE!!!
Pros small and light weighted
Cons flash to harhs or not at all. Overexposure on pictures or not enough light. Due to the very small screen unable to really avaliate the quality of a picture taken, only to find out later that the picture is blurred and not suitable for print.
Summary This was my first Sony camera. And it will be my last. It´s obvious that Sony is no camera expert.
Pros Hmm... nothing?
Cons Hard to hold, hard to operate, confusing scene modes, horrible picture quality, always grainy, bad white balance, tiny LCD screen, non-stationary lens, breaks easily, takes AA batteries, the list goes on and on...
Summary I never really liked this camera from the beginning. The buttons were hard to press and oddly placed, and the LCD was quite small. The styling of the camera looked like it was from out of the nineties. Looking further and using the camera a bit, the technology and build quality apparently also came out of the nineties. Just look at the cons list above. This camera is horrible to use. DON'T BUY IT.
"Battery Hog"on by Benjammn
Pros Takes decently photos. Sometimes its grainy, but I have taken good shots with it.
Decent amount of options
Cons THIS THING IS A BATTERY HOG. I cannot use it constantly for more than 15 minutes without the batteries dying on me. Too bad this camera uses AA...:'(
The speaker died on mine, so I can't listen to audio from videos.
Summary You certainly get what you pay for. A salesperson at Best Buy was trying to convince me not to get this one because it used AA batteries, but I didn't listen. What a mistake. This camera's battery life is horrendous. It takes nice photos and has nice features, but I get pissed off because I can only use it for 15 minutes.
