Pros Clean, clear photo quality, simple and comfortable button layout
Cons Lacking features and manual controls, awkward to hold (I have big hands), too big for the features it offers
Summary I wanted to like this more than I do now. It sounds great on paper, but for the price I thought it came up a little short. Still shots are very nice, clear, clean, etc., especially on iauto. But if you're planning on experimenting with manual controls or you're looking to upgrade your old point and shoot, I'd suggest paying a little more for something worthwhile. This is just a little too basic for the price, but if all you care about is good image quality then I think it's worth considering. If you're looking for something similar within or around $300, I'd highly recommend one of the Panasonic SZs. From my experience with them, they operate a little slower than the H70...but the overall shooting experience, manual controls, and features were better IMO. If you are Sony-biased and can afford it, try out the HX9...it's pretty expensive at $350 but very impressive. Otherwise, save your money and go for the HX5V.
Pros Light weight and easy to use this camera takes a good clear shot. Its loaded with options and settings.
Cons this camera is slow from shot to shot I believe i read somewhere its like 4 sec. Those seconds count.
Summary All in all this is a pretty good camera.
Pros compact, quality images, nice photo options
Cons photos are too bright, not the greatest for sunsets, bad warranty service, failed on me fast
Summary This camera failed within a month of owning it. I had it for less than two months before the lense failed and the camera wouldn't even turn on. I never dropped it and took very good care of it for the short period I had it, but it still failed. I got in touch with sony support to get it serviced under the warranty, but because I bought it in the US, they won't allow me to get it serviced anywhere outside the country (I live in Guatemala for the moment). They have service centers here, and I even went in to see about getting it fixed, but they said it would cost me a lot of money and they can't honor the manufacturer warranty. So now what they are forcing me to do is I have to pay to send it to them in Texas, then they have to send it to a US address and I have to have my family pay to send it back to me here in Guatemala. I just don't think this is very acceptable for a problem that they should be taking care of.
Pros Much better than Kodaks I had. Best color of any digital camera I have had. Video is better than any other cameras I had including video of my aquarium. Detail in regular and close ups is awesome. Great buy!
Cons I don't know of any at this point except slow for multi shot and only 3. SO what?
Summary I got a sale price and found it is a great camera. It is rated good. It is better than the Nikon I looked at. It is better than the Kodaks I had and might last more than a year. Hope I am gonna miss Peggy and Fahruk. Peggy is only funny on TV. Denby
Pros Price, compact design, zoom
Cons Burst mode, poor videos, bad low light photos, SLOW!!!
Summary I purchased this camera as a replacement for the compact camera I dropped in the pool this summer and wasn't able to repair. I returned it after a week :-( I couldn't take the slowness. I have had 2 sonys that I've absolutely loved, however they were bigger, high zoom and had a lot more features. My HX1 still works great even without the LCD screen that my 2yr old smashed. I was very disappointed with this camera, especially after the store associate assured me that it was a great camera and I was going to love it. Having 2 small children one of my favorite features has always been burst mode because it allows you to catch just the right picture when they're jumping in the pool, dancing, cheerleading, etc. This camera however is incredibly slow and only takes 3 pictures in burst mode. Not acceptable in my eyes! Especially coming from a Nikon that allowed you to take up to 50 photos in burst mode! (The downfall being they were reduced to 3mp) I was disappointed in the quality of photos as well; every photo I tried to crop lost clarity big time, it's 16mp for crying out loud! I get better quality pics from my phone! I was also annoyed with the fact that the exposure was too bright and I had to reset it every time I turned the camera on. Overall I'd have to say that I would NOT recommend this camera.
