"awesome camera! worth every penny!"
Pros: sold my video cam and digi cam and got one machine!
Cons: battery won't last that long, no eye viewer, only lcd screen
Summary: I've owned 7 digicams since 2000. I know what works and doesn't work. With each purschase my cameras got better and better, but they were still lacking. Once I saw this camera I knew my preyers were answered. I had a nice sony digital video camera mini DV and a canon elph 4.0. The sony was nice, but no still photos and too bulky to take everywhere. My canon was good in terms of size, but 70% of the pics had red eye and 50% were out of focus. As for the sony... ready for this... 95% of the pics are IN focus and NO red eye (b/c of the strobe flash which the canon does not have, just that stupid red beam that does nothing). So that's great! better indoor pics, just as good outdoor pics as the canon. The MPEG4 format is incredible. the video quality is JUST AS GOOD as the sony mini dv I sold. Except they are going on my laptop and not on a tape. My daughter is 3, I have 20 DV tapes over the years... of which I have watched NONE. But since they are on my computer now, I do watch and email them all time to family and friends. Be prepared to buy a Gig memory stick or 2 x 512mb (cheaper alternative) as well as at least one extra battery. Yes, its a first generation camera of its kind, but its well worth it and I'm very happy with it! Beats both my old camera and I pocketed some money once I sold the old 2. at 512mb you will get 24 min of straight movie shooting at best quality. that's terrific! and it looks so darn strange that everyone always asks about the camera too, great conversation peice! Highly recommend! A+
