"A lot of camera for the $$$"4.5 starson by racevw14
Pros: 3" tilt screen
Cons: Plastic case
Summary: I was walking thru Best Buy today & saw the H9 on the shelf & picked up the only one they had (besides the display)
Went home & charged the batt & started playing!
It's easy to jump right in to using the camera without using the manual (but I will read it tonight)
the 3" tilt screen is great, big screen makes it easy to see & the tilt is nice, you don't have to lay on the ground to take a low shot.
I wasn't thrilled with the plastic case, sure it makes it light but it's also fragile,I would have prefered an aluminum case.
As a result I spent an extra $99 for a 4 year insurance policy, if anything happens to it other than being immersed in water I'll get a free one, in the places I take pics I'm betting the insurance policy will get used!!
While most of the pics I take will be in auto mode I do like that I can go full manual.
I've only had it a day but it's a big jump from the DSC-S75 it's replacing.
I can't wait to get using it & since I start a month vacation in 2 days I got it just in time!
My only disapointment so far is the Memory stick, Best buy doesn't carry the high speed Pro Duo & Sony Style has them on backorder so I'll be using a standard 2G card for nowUpdated
Well I've had some time to play with it & I can say it is a nice camera, it's so easy to use I just ordered it's little brother (DSC-H7) for my mom for Mothers day.
I really like the single button to go from burst mode ot single shot.
I do a lot of picture taking at race tracks & burst is a must but some times like walking in the pits you just want a single shot, it's nice you don't have to dig around the menu to change it.
While burst is fairly fast on the internal memory & with a standard 1G memory stick I just ordered the High speed memory stick so it should be even faster.
If you just want to point & shoot or get fancy with your pics & don't need the replaceable lenses of a SLR then the H9 is a camera you need to consider!
