"Great camera but....."
Pros: portability
Cons: repair needed after a few months
Summary: I was looking for an alternative to my Canon G5 that was more pocketable and that would make me more inclined to pack a camera to take snapshots. After seeing a friends DSC T1, decided that the T100 with the 5x zoom and macro capability would easily displace the G5 for all of my digital shots. I've had the camera since April and it has been conveniently portable and at the same time, retains a solid feel from the metal case. The two macro levels have been very handy for extreme closeups that I occasionally need for work (its possible to keep a 2cm field of view sharp). For some reason after 3 months of operation, pink banding started to appear on my shots around a 1/3 of the way down on the CCD. Sent the camera in for warranty repair to Sony and they did fix it promptly, but they did apparently had to replace the CCD and the associated board. I hope this CCD problem was just an aberration. It was pretty annoying to have vacation shots screwed up but they may be fixable in Photoshop. Love the camera otherwise.
