"Not a camera I would recommend or purchase again" on by sadwithcamerapurchase

Pros: I guess it is easy enough to use.

Cons: Terrible pictures, terrible backup strategy, terrible camera.

Summary: Look - this camera is not good. I am a pretty good photographer and I take terrible pictures with this camera. You know the scenario where you had your camera to someone else and ask them to take a picture of your family? With this camera - always terrible. My iphone has a better camera - honestly.

And backup. Ahem - Sony? Are you listening? This camera is terrible! A separate HUGE cable is necessary (sorry, no mini-usb backup) and they have a camera-specific chip that doesn't fit in standard slots. So - if you are on vacation and you need to backup photos to your computer... out of luck. If you just can't find the cable because your toddler/wife/husband has hidden it... 49 dollars please.

And the photo quality - honestly, for a point and shoot camera it is point and crappy. Just awful. Not 'not my favorite' but awful. I would never buy this again for the portability/flexibility + the image quality.

And note: I am a really good photographer for an amateur! And even my sister, a semi-professional photographer and graphic designer, has concured. This camera takes bad photos, is a major technology back step for image sharing/backup etc, and is generally NOT something we would recommend.

Whoa -- I was surprised at this review. I know we have the same camera, but my experience is exactly the opposite! LOVE the camera, use a cable I used with another Sony; the chip fits into a little gizmo I use to transfer photos into our laptop when we're away. Everything is easy with it, if you want it to take the easy route -- which often we do. I chose this camera in particular for the low light and panoramic features, which are spectacular. I've taken thousands of photos, but as with any new camera, you HAVE to read the manual, and you HAVE to practice, practice, practice. There is SO much you can do with this little camera to get perfect photos, but you have to LEARN it. And it's sensational for video. Okay, and finally -- my iPhone is terrific for stopgap, outdoor shots, but I wouldn't DREAM of using it for indoor shots after giving it a try. Keep working on your picture taking. You'll improve. Good luck. Lovemysony
