"Fusion of DSLR functionalities in a small package"4.5 starson by saikatdas1982
Pros: 1. Ultra Compact that fits your denim pocket
2. Crisp LCD Screen for clear vision
3. Superior Auto enhances low light picture quality. No need to keep hands steady or a tripod for low light pictures.
4. Supports HDSC Cards
5. Full HD 1080i
Cons: 1. Poor Battery Life - can betray you unless you have a backup battery before any big event.
2. Zoom button irresponsive at time due to size
3. Touch Screen will leave finger prints
4. No GPS Geo Tagging
5. No USB connector in camera. Only dock.
Summary: Sony finally offers a camera which is excellent in value and quality. It is the smallest sophisticated camera in the market which offers the latest functionalities like 3D (although useless, unless you have spent your $$$$ on 3D TV's). The Superior Auto brings a new definition to ameturs for excellent photography even in low light. If you are in a museum and cannot use flash photography, this is an excellent tool to ensure the picture is crisp. It might take more time on every picture as the camera takes 6 shots and then processes it for the final output. This will also leave the battery usage more by 60%. The Full HD functionality is an excellent addition. You would not need to carry the HD Camcorders for every event. The camera comes with a DOCK, which will appeal to some people but i prefer the usb connector in the camera. If you want to transfer the pictures, you will have to either carry the dock or buy a card reader. The battery is designed to fit the camera and is a sleek design, but this leaves it to be only average performance level taking into account the functionalities of the camera. The panorama fikming is old to sony cameras and does an excellent job in this case also. The supported cards are MS Duo and SD/SDHC/SDXC
The camera sells for $399 and does justice to its value. It comes in two colors (i prefer the dark gray) as the "RED" as sony advertises will turn out to be a wierd combination of red and dark pink and i find it wierd. Sony introduced the option of having the SDHC card in addition to its proprietary memory stick duo, which is an excellent proposition from sony as it is cheap and comes in various storage capacity.
The camera's accessories available: 1. Sony carry case, which is specifically built for TX9 comes in black, white, red and brown.
The camera is a great piece of product designed for the newbies and professionals. It includes funcyionalities like: Intelligent Auto (which is recommended for higher battery stamina). The Superior Auto will help you take excellent pictures for low light areas like museums or night clubs but will compromise your battery life. The camera also have scene selection, which allows you to take soft skin, twilight, landscape etc.
Like all sony TX series, it comes with the SMILE feature which puts the camera to complete AUTO mode and wont allow to change any settings.
The Background Defocus functionality is a great tool which can produce DSLR quality pictures and the consumer have the capability to alter it as Mild, Medium or High defocus.
The playbacks can be mixed with pre-built music or you can even download music.
It would have been great if the camera could sense the Portrait and Landscape mode of the camera while playing back the picture and could do the auto adjustment as we are used to seeing it in the Smart Phones nowdays.
Overall Final Verdict: A great piece of equipment for the photography enthusiasts, which produces excellent photographs and stands up to all its promises. The overall body design is good but could have been better. Price is at par with other competing models in the market.
I would give it a 4.5 for all the lovely functionalities it has but also comes with certain drawbacks.
