Pros -Some of the pictures are outstanding
-Lots of settings for pictures of cities at night that turned out great
-I kind of liked the little slide to turn off and protect the lens door
Cons -Battery life is dreadful
-My pictures became corrupted sometimes (this could have been a bad Sony memory card)
-My pictures had lots of little dots in them (maybe from dried moisture inside or dust)
-Problems turning off flash
Summary I'll throw this in at the top of the review - I do not recommend this camera, especially now after 3 years.
The most awesome feature of this camera that made me initially purchase it was that if you turn on a setting, it takes 2 different pictures at the same time, with 2 different settings, or 2 different flash options. I LOOVED this when i first bought the camera. I still do really. It has helped get some good pictures when I didn't have the time to mess with settings.
Well, I bought this in 2009 to go on a Euro trip with some buddies. It served it's purpose well. I bought 4 extra batteries that I carried around that were actually necessary on days we were site seeing.
I didn't mention in the cons section above because I ran out of room, but one of the reasons that the battery life may be so poor is that the power button on the camera would turn on in my pocket every time it was in my pocket without fail.
To elaborate a little on the "dots" If there is a picture taken in a room with low light, or at night, every picture now has a bunch of little dots in it... I think there is either moisture or dust in there somewhere, but I can not get rid of it. I rarely use this camera anymore because of the updates on phone cameras recently, and because of these dots.... This probably my fault, I have no idea where I have had the camera that could have caused these dots, but it ruins pictures.
Pros Video quality is surprisingly good. Slideshow mode, facial/smile recognition, and the touch screen may be gimmicky but are nice pluses
Cons Short battery life and very bad image quality for the price. Requires a specialized dock (included), which is roughly half the size of a small pencil box, to upload photos to your computer. Unless you buy a USB card reader (usually less than $5).
Summary I also own a DSLR, and wanted a smaller point and shoot for situations where carrying around a giant DSLR would be cumbersome, annoying, and/or not required. For example, a casual night out with friends, or a light camera to keep around at all time. For those situations, I'd want a camera with decent picture quality and a long battery life, and wouldn't really care much about neat/gimmicky features like a smile detector. If you're looking for a small point and shoot to compliment your DSLR, this is not the right camera for you. It's also not the best purchase if you're looking for your first point and shoot, due to its picture quality and short battery life. In short, there are much better point and shoot cameras out there for the same price.
Pros Really like the responsive touch screen. Great HD video with R and L stereo sound - you can even zoom as you're filming.
Cons Although I'm not an expert, photo quality is lacking for the price in point and shoot/easy mode. Takes some playing around with settings (there's tons!) to get that great shot. But once you do, they look great!
Summary Had this camera for about a month and really like it. In "easy' mode, photo quality is lacking for the price. Takes some time to find that setting you need/want then the pic looks great - but again, I've only had it a month. Overall a really nice camera.
Pros HD movie, zooming while shooting, clear images, stylish look.
Cons The quality of LCD isn't very good, it cannot handle enough pressure, so delicate.
Summary This camera is for those infrequent users who tend to use it on special occasions.
Pros 12.1MP - HD recording 1080P - Auto-Shoot Smile detection - Auto-Shoot Macro detection + more settings and amazing features - Touch Screen - Quick processing - Lens Cover - Small - Light Weight - Sleek - Edit Photos after shooting - many many settings
Cons Short battery life - does not auto detect rotation when previewing photos -
Summary This camera ROCKS! I almost bought the Nikon CoolPix S60, however after comparing the features between the two cameras, Sony had the better deal, plus the better product! Great for quick point shoot action. Auto detect features are neat too!
Excellent camera to purchase for simple point and shoot use, quick, awesome technology, well worth money spent and well waited for great technology, will be a long while before a new camera is purchased.
