Pros: The limited things it allows will probably work great.
Cons: need iTunes, only works with proprietary formats
Summary: For people that are willing to limit their choices to Apple/iTunes this might be a nice product. There is so much more that this thing should be able to do but won't because Apple wants to lock you into their formats.Updated
this product isn't made to improve the user's convenience... it's made to improve the user's ability to buy stuff from the iTunes store.

All you have to do is to export them for apple TV. You can do it with QuickTime.

Other movies / TV shows can be converted to AppleTV standard via QuickTime Pro software for PC + Mac ($30).
Also, you can play your home movie / digital videos on AppleTV.
If you have friends that have iTunes movies or TV shows on their PC + Mac laptops, they can "SHARE" them with you on your AppleTV via streaming Wi-Fi . So you can enjoy their media too.
Not for everybody, but does have more options than you think.
